Recently, while snapping a picture of the icons I use for prayer, my phone began searching. When snapping the photo of my Root of Jessie icon, the facial recognition part of my phone kicked in.
It was searching. It was asking. It wanted to know these faces and their connections.
My phone wasn’t smart enough to pick up those who surrounded Christ in the icon but I’m smart enough to know that the connections I seek are all around me. That through Christ, I’m connected to all.
They are the names, faces, friends, and foes that I see when I hold this icon in prayer.
The connections we seek are all around us. We need not search for long. Seen and unseen, they are here.
